Google CEO Sundar Pichai said on Thursday that the company is making affordable smartphones in partnership with Jio. Last year, Google bought a 7.7 percent stake in the Jio platform for NPR 54,295 crore. Along with this, both the big tech companies had entered into a commercial agreement under which the partnership was signed to make an entry-level affordable smartphone.

Internet will reach every house with the help of Google
Sundar Pichai said in a virtual press conference with select reporter of Asia Pacific that we are committed to making an affordable phone and Jio and Google are working together on this project. He has not provided information about the phone’s launching and pricing details. However, it has been confirmed that the phone will be offered with cheap data. This will increase the reach of the Internet to more and more people. Google has invested in the Jio platform from Google’s India Digitization Fund, announced last year.
In July last year, Sundar Pichai introduced an investment plan of Rs 75,000 in the last 5 years, which will speed up the drive for digitization in the country.
